About Jasmine
Jasmine Wakeford is a willow weaver based in the Isles of Scilly.
She was first introduced to traditional willow weaving while living in the Highlands of Scotland. Learning to work with willow sparked a deepening creative engagement with the craft, and she soon began growing her own material and exhibiting her work around Scotland under the name 'Highland Willow'.
This formative period established the foundations of a practice rooted in natural materials and hand-crafted processes.

In 2023, Jasmine began taking large bundles of willow rods aboard a small sailing boat, working with them as she travelled under sail exploring the Cornish coastline and the Isles of Scilly.
Weaving as she went, she inevitably drew inspiration from her surroundings and posted her finished pieces from each anchorage. Immersed in the natural landscape, she developed a particular affinity with the islands.
Jasmine continued to work from the boat for extended periods of time over several summer seasons. These experiences were pivatal and led to the development of Willow at Sea, the name under which she now works.

In 2025, Jasmine settled on St Mary’s in the Isles of Scilly.
She now weaves permanently from this unique island setting, often working outdoors on beaches, headlands, or at anchor.
Her practice is particularly mindful and celebrates a somewhat overlooked natural material in one of the most beautiful and remote parts of the UK.
